Judith Sievers und Felix Bach gewinnen auch die Halbfinale der Youth-Olympic-Games-Regatta. Das Rennen von Judith Sievers ging knapp aus. So betrug der Abstand zwischen Platz 1 und Platz 3 gerade 0,57 Sekunden und zu Platz 4, der nicht für das Finale A qualifiziert, 0,84 Sekunden. Felix Bach konnte dagegen einen größeren Vorsprung herausrudern. 2 Sekunden später folgte das nächste Boot. Spannende Rennen sind am morgigen Finaltag zu erwarten.
Judith Sievers: "I didn't know I won - it was so close! I knew that China was strong from last year's World Champs and also Cuba, but over 1000m you cannot say. I now look forward to the A final!"
Judith Sievers: "Tomorrow I will race harder," sagte Sievers. "I have reached what I wanted with the world championships, but this is different. This is the Olympics."
Felix Bach: "A specially hard race today. It's the last one before the final and I wanted to test my opponents, see what they can do at points of the course. I will sleep well tonight and look forward to the final tomorrow."
Felix Bach: "I was looking to test my opponents a bit."
