Judith Sievers und Felix Bach gewinnen Vorläufe bei den YOG

Die Juniorenweltmeister Judith Sievers und Felix Bach gewinnen ihre Vorläufe im Einer bei der Youth-Olympic-Games-Regatta und stehen damit in den Halbfinals, die am Dienstag stattfinden. Beide konnten auf dem ersten 500 m nicht das Feld anführen, setzten sich dennoch auf der zweiten Streckenhäfte durch und gewannen mit der besten Vorlaufzeit. Die Streckenlänge beträgt bei den Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 1000 m im Vergleich zu 2000 m bei Junioren-Weltmeisterschaften.
Judith Sievers: "It's a great honour to participate here because it's the first Youth Olympic Games. The race was not that easy because the course is too short for me. I'll do my best and see what I can do."
Felix Bach: "It's a bit different here racing 1000m, so I have to change some aspects of my rowing. My race usually begins at 1000m, here it is finished! But it is fun. We'll see in the semi-final and final. I have done no special training for the 1000m - it's a race...."
Felix Bach: “Surely other athletes know I’m world champion,” sagte er nachdem er in 3:22,25 Minuten über die Ziellinie gerudert ist. “When I’m at the start they will probably notice me, what I do, how I race. I always have that in the back of my mind, but I don’t let it get too deep.”
